Jungle Boogie!

Jungle Boogie Get Down Get Down!

This was such a fun little project, A CD cover case for a jungle themed baby shower.

1-IMG_9016

A friend is a photographer in which he gives the recipient their photos in a custom themed CD case.  His assignment was a jungle themed baby shower. Lets see what I came up with.

I gathered my baby boy supplies and got to work.  I used Kraft paper from Papertrey Ink.  Its Great Quality!

I used a copy of a CD and made the front and backs.  This paper is from Michaels and I used my punches to add some detail.

1-IMG_9003Time to put it all together!  I did the inside first since it used all the animal brads.  Use baby stamps and die cuts too!

Baby Baptism

Hi,

Long time no chat!  Well I have some many things to share I just haven’t posted them.  Ack! I have going through some health issues with my eyes and some custom work for my shop I haven’t had time.  Alas I am back! with goodies to share.  I had a request a while back  mostly  baby baptism card for a sweet little one named AVA.

I used this cute monkey baby girl paper, with stickers and dies cuts to make this project all girl.

The little shoe dies are just so cute to me.  I used them as often as I can.  I created all my layer pieces and used the stripping like a chair rail.  I placed the sticker embellishments on top and behind the “rail”.  I love to personalize by adding a name it just makes it all the more special.

In the inside a simple message: Blessings on Baby’s Baptism

Enjoy the View

Last Month my husband and I took a trip to Costa Rica.  We had a blast!  But I wasn’t the only one on the trip nor was I the only one that would have memories from the trip. I began to ponder how I would get his input…..Got it.

My husband loves TV so I knew whatever involvement I was going to get needed to be quick and to the point.  I emailed him 4 questions to answer regarding the trip. I knew his view point would be different from mine as he as been all over the world and I have not.  So sit back and Enjoy The View.

1-IMG_9041

Naturally this was a big event totally worth scrap booking with a bazillion photos right?  RIGHT? However every photo, for me, doesn’t warrant an Oscar some are just supporting photos.  This helps with the after vacation overwhelmed factor.  I felt his point of view is just that, no photo needed to convey a feeling I have the feelings in writing.

Lets break it down.
I wanted this to be a fun, boy girl kinda page since it was both our thoughts about a tropical location. I gathered my supplies and got busy.

1-IMG_9036

At first too bland I was missing something…duh girl color..PINK!  Ah much better.
Once I got the base layer down time it was time  print out my answers which in this case took the place of my photo and got busy!

1-IMG_9040

To embellish the responses I added a few embellies and stamps but kept them in the boy girl theme of pink and blue.

1-IMG_9044

used my silhouette to cut out the country of Costa Rica remember the best way to not forget about you die cutters is to use a die cut on every layout/card.

1-IMG_9043

I used Momento ink on the top and bottom portion of the wood cut title.  Love how it turned out.

All done.

SOC Design Team Layout-We Heart Selfies

February is already upon us and Love is in the air.  Don’t have a sweet heart no worries your layouts this month do not always have to romantic. Here is a layout with my mom titled We heart selfies! It still has a heart thing and it also gave me a chance to use a valentine themed kit.

Lets get started!

I split my cardstock to make a new background.  I wanted to bring in some of the faded black.

I coved the split of the cardstock with faux garland.  My sewing machine is in the shop so I used my white gel pen.

Lets embellish and wrap this layout up.

Add all the bits and bobs….layer away!

I doubled my titles to add more dimension, snuck in some washi and potty people.

I have a ton of these overlays and need to use them more.  I added a few more layered buts and a date stamp.

A cute addition! A zipper charm that says Mom.

Think about the things you love or your loved ones this month and Shine On!

Supplies: Glitz, Martha Stewart, Studio Calico, Silhouette

Art Journaling, Getting to know God

Spiritual Circle Journal and *GIVEAWAY*

1-IMG_1079

I had the privilege of going to a One day women’s retreat this weekend, Seeking God in fresh new ways.

I walked away feeling like I was given a game plan to spend more time with My God.  Time.  That’s the key word. If you follow either one of my blogs you know time is what I don’t have.  (Confession) What I also know is I will find time for the things want to do.

I was invited by my friend and Sister in Christ Gladys.

1-IMG_1078

The retreat was about 30mins away from 9-4.  There were about 24 attendees all there for different reasons but the main reason was to find a way to have a deeper closer relationship with Christ.  The First half of the Retreat which focused on our lives, schedules and how to apply the Spiritual Circle Journal was facilitated by Christian Life Coach Liz Lassa.

You can read her story here.

Here’s a glimpse into my Journal Entry:1-IMG_1076

It was so interesting there were a room full of ladies and during quiet time I felt so intimate as I wrote in my Journal.  I really needed a method like this.  It reminds me of Project Life for the Bible it can be a simple or elaborate based on your life.

The remainder of the day was hosted by The Creative and very talented Christian Artist Tamara Peterson. This time was allotted for art journaling which I had never done.  I have been scrapbooking for about 2 years but never journaled.   We created a small canvas as well.  My word for 2105 is  community.

The retreat was personal, the attendees and hosts were loving and transparent.  The event was administratively professional, punctual,  and definitely gave you a practical solution to spending more time with God.

I encourage you to read the 1st chapter which Liz provides for FREE here. Not an Artist, not interested in all the decorating that’s fine too.  This journal is not about decorating its about spending time with the Creator so you can have a deeper relationship with Him.  Words will do.

I recommend this retreat as I think it is a new way at looking your quiet time and your study time.

So in an effort to spread the Gospel and help you grow in your walk with Christ I purchased an extra journal to give away.  I am not affiliated with Liz but I do agree that the Spiritual Circle Journal is a fresh way to Renew your relationship with God or start a relationship with Him.

Documenting December-Journal Your Christmas Day 5

Here’s a look at Day 5:

It seems this Christmas has gotten away from me so no Christmas cards but I will make some fun tags.  This page shows a few examples.

1-IMG_0618

I used Kraft paper which I love to wrap gifts in and used a large doily as a base layer.  Then  added the tags on top and stamped in the middle.  Added a diecut, flair and the scripture 1 John 5:11.

1-IMG_0620

I edged the pre-printed tags, layered a doily held  with washi and added my wood embellishments.

Documenting December-Journal Your Christmas Day 4

Here’s Day 4 of Journal Your Christmas.
1-IMG_0615

I used some snow flake die cuts as layering accents and used the polka dot flag to add contrast.

1-IMG_0617

Since Theresa Collins has envelopes and file folders with most of her collections I like to use them all to add notes and journaling.  Here I added a stamp.

A few more embellishments and the page is complete.

Documenting December-Journal Your Christmas Day 3

Here’s Day 3!

I also like to have various size pages in my album.  To me they make them look more scrappy.  This is my plan for the holidays.  Another 3 x 4, Thickers for for the title and some word stickers.

1-IMG_0613

The backside of page 3 contains the written list.  The paper is a sheet of Simple Stories from teh 6 x 8 album.  This was Quick and easy.
